Description:
Gula Kortet's largest lake, a full 570 hectares. Through an agreement with Sävelången's fishing conservation area, Sävelången is included in the Yellow Card, although separate fishing licenses are also sold. Please note that the fishing limit for the Yellow Card is at the railroad and be especially careful of the fast trains. Upstream of the bridge, only the Sävelång card is valid.
Sävelången is a very exciting lake with a chance to catch large specimens of almost all species. The perch reaches a high average weight due to the fact that the lake has a large population of zander, which spawns in early May at Norsesund. Net fishing is allowed in the blackfish fishery and this is the only exception where angling is not the only fishing method allowed on the Yellow Card. In Sävelången, several trout over 5 kilos have also been caught. There are good spots around Norsesund, especially at the inlet stream where it is possible to fly fish successfully for trout on summer nights. However, most large trout have been caught out on the open water. Look out for tagged trout, which are part of an effort to evaluate fisheries management.
The pike and perch are also getting really big. The sawfish record for pike is 18 kilos, probably the largest pike ever caught in the region. In 2012, the Yellow Card record was broken with a pike of 16.5 kilos. Ice fishing can be good for both pike and perch. Håvaredsviken is a popular area. Perhaps the best perch spots can be found next to the 15-meter shoal at Ingared and the shoal outside Tollered. The perch are found here in both summer and winter. It is probably also possible to have good burbot fishing in Sävelången, but this fishing is quite unexplored.
At Nääs there is a fishing pier that is a very good fishing spot. There is also a launching ramp at Nääs. Sävelången is also well located for those who do not have access to a car. It is easy to go to the local train stations Floda and Norsesund, both of which are located next to good fishing spots.
Surface area: 570 ha.
