Fishing rules:

For targeted carp fishing, the "Carp Supplement" must be purchased. It is absolutely forbidden to kill carp and tench, which must be released. Otherwise, see fishing rules in the Yellow Card Guide.

Boat fishing is allowed, but only from angling rental boats and not from other boats, canoes and the like as the lake is a water source. Therefore, motors other than electric motors may not be used. More info and boat booking: 031-40 17 40, weekdays 9-16.

Description:

Delsjöarna is located in the scenic Delsjöreservatet, an area close to the city that still has a wilderness feel with several types of nature. The whole area is one of Gothenburg's most visited recreational areas. The lakes are the water source for Gothenburg, with water pumped from the Göta River into Lilla Delsjön and out of Stora Delsjön. The lakes are linked by a canal. Just northwest of Stora Delsjön is the regional office of Sportfiskarnas Sjölyckan, where you can buy fishing licenses, rent rowing boats and get fishing tips. For more information about boat rental, see the website.

Both lakes have similar fishing and species composition. Perch can grow large, up to over 2 kilos, and the food consists largely of signal crayfish. Carp fishing has yielded carp up to 14.48 kg. In summer, the bait for tench in the bays can be good with weights up to 2 kilos. Shore fishing can be done in several places, but fishing for perch, pike and zander is best done in summer from a boat in the deeper parts of the lake. Use a deep caravan, float trolling or vertical jig to get down into the depths where the fish often are.

The lakes are rich in species, including perch, zander, pike, bream, tench, carp, burbot, dace, roach and vendace. Work to re-establish trout in tributary streams has also been initiated by Sportfiskarna in collaboration with the City of Gothenburg. Crayfish fishing for the public takes place every August, see Sportfiskarna's website for more info.
