Lake Nömmen is a quite large lake, with an area of 3130 acres, numerous islands and very rewarding fishing for many interesting species. Perch, pike, pike-perch, burbot and tench are some of them. The lake is also inhabited by a sparse trout population. The fish often grow to large sizes, which is proved by catches of pike of 15 kilos, perch of 2 kilos and pike-perch of 9 kilos in the lake.
There are also lots of signal crayfish, but fishing for these is restricted to land owners. The most widely used fishing methods in the lake are trolling, ice fishing, spin fishing and angling. As a fisherman, you have good fishing possibilities, both from a boat and from off the shore.
The lake is a part of the watershed of River Emån and is located around 10 kilometers southeast from Nässjö. Lake Nömmen is 18 meters at its deepest place and a fairly nutrient-poor lake with clear water. The lake has both steep and flat shores, which serve as a drinking-water supply for the municipality of Vetlanda. Black throated diver, osprey, Red-breasted Merganser, heron and Eurasian hobby are some of the bird species frequently inhabiting the lake. Otters have been seen in the area at several times.
