About us

Sport fishing is currently one of Sweden's most important leisure activities, with 1-1.5 million participants annually and a turnover of around SEK 10 billion in 2022 (Statistics Sweden). Sweden is also a popular destination for foreign fishing tourists, either as part of their stay or as their main activity. Interest in recreational fishing and fishing tourism has gradually increased, especially during the pandemic, which is clearly reflected in statistics for digital fishing licence sales in the county. As interest in fishing has increased, the need for improved accessibility and clearer and updated information on how to get in touch with fishing waters and what rules and conditions apply has become clearer. With more practitioners and more fishing days, it is also clear that there is a need for sustainable fishing with a more evenly distributed fishing pressure on the country's lakes and rivers. The uneven fishing pressure is largely due to the fact that some lakes are more accessible than others and that information on many waters is missing or incomplete. To meet the demand and need and improve the quality of information about fishing in the county, Sportfiskarna, the County Administrative Board of Jönköping, Kommunal utveckling Jönköpings län, Smålands turism and Fiskevattenägareförbundet initiated a joint project. The web service hittafiske.se was born.
The aim of the project was to contribute to improvedguidance for recreational anglers and fishing tourists in the county and promotefishing for beginners. The information gathered will also form a knowledge bank for tourist offices, destination companies, tourism businesses and others. The node will also contribute to long-term sustainable fishing and outdoor life in connection with the county's waters and work to increase the county's income from fishing tourism. With improved information, the fishing pressure on the county's lakes is also expected to be distributed more evenly, which contributes to less disturbance to the land and water environment.
